Isabel Stüber Malagamba

The Mexican-German mezzo-soprano Isabel Stüber Malagamba was born in Karlsruhe, Germany. She made her professional debut as the Dritte Knabe DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE with the Jenaer Philharmonie in 2014, going onto appear in Elisabeth Naske’s DIE OMAMA IM APLFELBAUM with Theater Erfurt.  In 2015 Isabel sang the role of Margarita in Eduard Lassen’s FAUST at the Theater Rudolstadt, later recorded for release on CD, after which she was a semi-finalist at the Mexican National Singing Competition ‘Carlo Morelli’.  That year she also sang the role of Alice in Johannes Harneit’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND at Theater Altenburg, debuted as Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel with the Jenaer Philharmonie and was awarded a grant from the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation.

In 2016 Isabel joined the Opera Studio of the Bellas Artes, Fonca-INBA in Mexico City, where she appeared as Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel, and later made her debut with the Mexican National Opera Company as Enrichetta I PURITANI. Other recent engagements include Lucinda in Mendelssohn’s DIE HOCHZEIT DES CAMANCHO and the Berio Folk Songs at the International Cervantino Festival, Wagner Wesendonck Lieder with the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra and her debut as Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Theatre Nazas in Torreón.  Starting in 2018/19, Isabel has been part of the ensemble of Theater Magdeburg, Germany where her roles have included Lisa Gräfin Mariza, Zweite Dame DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Chava FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and Emilia OTELLO.

Isabel graduated in Theater and German Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and went on to gain a Masters in Voice from the Musikhochschule “Franz Liszt Weimar”. She has participated in masterclasses with Christa Ludwig, Brigitte Fassbaender and Roman Trekel.
