Philip Sheffield

British Tenor, Philip Sheffield, is renowned internationally for his vocal versatility, acting ability and intensity. Most recently he sang the challenging role of Zivny in Janacek OSUD at the Janacek Theatre in Brno in a new production by Robert Carsen, later streamed worldwide.

Other recent engagements include Reverend Adams PETER GRIMES at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo conducted by Jan Latham Koenig and at Opera Köln in a new production by Frederic Wake-Walker,  Edward IV in Battistelli RICHARD III at Teatro La Fenice and Loge DAS RHEINGOLD for the Grimeborn Festival at the Arcola Theatre (London).

Other engagements include A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM at the Hyogo performing arts centre in Japan in a new production by Anthony McDonald ,  Simon in Birtwistle THE LAST SUPPER in Glasgow with Martyn Brabbins and The BBC Scottish Orchestra and performances of the Verdi Requiem in Durham Cathedral. Philip appears on two recent commercial releases: a DVD of CLAUDE from Opera de Lyon and a CD recording of Eric Chisholm’s Simoon also featuring Jane Irwin and Damien Thantrey.

in 2022 he will record the sound track for a new operatic animated film and he will sing Vaughan-Williams On Wenlock Edge with the Czech Philharmonic Quartet and the pianist Jonathan Powell in the Levoca Festival in Slovakia.  Philip is the current Artistic director of Hampstead Garden Opera.
