Reyna Carguill

new headshotSoprano Reyna Carguill’s voice has been described as “warm”, “enchanting” and possessing “a captivating power that demands attention”. A native of Panamá City, Ms. Carguill has appeared in concert and opera performances throughout the United States and abroad.  Recent highlights include the role of Élisabeth de Valois DON CARLOS and Lucrezia Contarini I DUE FOSCARI, both with Sarasota Opera.  Ms. Carguill toured the United States with the 75th Anniversary Production of Gershwin’s PORGY AND BESS in the role of Serena.  In 2010 she was engaged by the Caramoor Festival to cover the demanding title role NORMA and in 2011 Ms. Carguill performed the soprano arias from  PORGY AND BESS in a concert-version conducted by Lorin Maazel.  She made her international debut in the spring of 2012 under Maazel as the soprano soloist for PORGY AND BESS with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.  In 2013 she sang the Verdi REQUIEM with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and added the title role AIDA to her list of roles performed. In 2014 she sang the role of Serena to great acclaim with the Princeton Festival of New Jersey’s production of PORGY & BESS and Leonora IL TROVATORE for Sarasota Opera.

A former member of the Sarasota Opera Studio Program, Ms. Carguill covered the role of Odabella ATTILA.  Additional highlights include performances as Clara PORGY AND BESS with the Evansville Philharmonic, the title role TOSCA with the Indiana University Opera Theater, as well as the roles of Beatrice in the American Premiere of Sven-David Sandstrom’s JEPPE, Rosalinda DIE FLEDERMAUS, and Suor Genovieffa SUOR ANGELICA.
