Other recent highlights from last season include Bernstein’s Mass with Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, his off-Broadway debut in Lady Be Good at NY City Center Encores! (cast album released by Sh-k-Boom Records), Beloved Renegade with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the world premiere of Marie Incontrera’s song cycle Do No Harm with the Moirae Ensemble, Robert Manno’s DO NOT GO GENTLE at the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice, and performances with the Barbrashop Quartet, a new musical cabaret developed by RJ Productions.
The 2014-15 season marked his debut in Bruxelles at the Théâtre de La Monnaie singing Le Mari in LES MAMELLES DE TIRÉSIAS, a role he has also performed at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Central City Opera, and Juilliard Opera. During that same season he sang Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with Heartbeat Opera, the Born for Broadway Cabaret at 54 Below (site of the iconic Studio 54), premieres of new works by Andrew Maxfield for the James Beard Foundation Awards and the Roosevelt Four Freedom Awards, and three separate appearances at Carnegie Hall; Guys And Dolls with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) Gala honoring Leonard Bernstein, and Reynaldo Moya’s GENERALISSIMO with the AZLO Orchestra. Mr. McDevitt can be heard on the 2014 studio cast album of Jerome Kern’s Roberta, recorded with the Orchestra of Ireland and released through New World Records.
Credits from previous seasons include the Emmy-nominated production of Carousel with the NY Philharmonic (broadcast on PBS Live from Lincoln Center), Mozart’s ZAIDE with Michael Tilson Thomas’s New World Symphony in Miami, Philip Glass’s LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES with the North Carolina Opera and Carolina Ballet, Virgil Thomson’s FOUR SAINTS IN THREE ACTS and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with the Mark Morris Dance Group, Jonathan Dawe’s COSÌ FARAN TUTTI with Company XIV, Paul Crabtree’s THE GHOST TRAIN at the Carolina Chamber Music Festival, and various appearances with pianist Steve Blier and the New York Festival of Song both in New York and on tour. Additional appearances include apprenticeships with the Wolf Trap Opera and Central City Opera, and solo appearances with the National Symphony, Albany Symphony, American Classical Orchestra, Lysander Trio, and the Moirae Ensemble among others.
Timothy has been recognized as a New York District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Competition, a finalist in the Competizione dell’Opera at the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Lys Symonette Prize winner of the Lotte Lenya Competition, and twice as a finalist for the Atelier Lyrique young artist program at the Paris Opera (Opéra Bastille).
A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Mr. McDevitt holds both his Bachelor and Master degrees in Music from the Juilliard School.
