headshot croppedAmerican soprano Rebecca Davis is fast becoming known for her “powerful, majestic, captivating, elegant, and thrilling” performances of opera’s most dynamic heroines, and it has been recently noted that she is “a visceral actress with insight and presence“. After her debut with the Staatsoper Hanover in 2012 as Fiordiligi, Davis has become a member of the ensemble, returning in the 2013-2014 season to sing Micaëla CARMEN, Mimi LA BOHÈME, Fiordiligi COSÌ FAN TUTTE, and her role debut as Helena in the company premiere of Britten’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. She also appeared in November with Dayton Philharmonic singing Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2, Lobgesang. She was Rosalinde in DIE FLEDERMAUS at Staatsoper Hannover for the 2014-15 season and made her role debut as RUSALKA. Engagements during the 2015/16 season included Donna Anna DON GIOVANNI, Mimi LA BOHÈME and Rosalinde DIE FLEDERMAUS at Staatsoper Hannover, Fiodiligi COSÌ FAN TUTTE at Theater Freiburg, and Mimi LA BOHÈME at Stadttheater Bremerhaven. In the 2016/17 season, Ms. Davis’ roles at Hannover include Mimi LA BOHÈME, Micaëla CARMEN, La Contessa LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Rosalinde DIE FLEDERMAUS.

In 2012-2013 Ms. Davis sang Mimi LA BOHÈME with Hidden Valley Opera, Magda LA RONDINE with Fresno Grand Opera, Violetta LA TRAVIATA with Livermore Valley Opera, the Countess in Dayton Opera’s production of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and made her European debut as Fiordiligi COSÌ FAN TUTTE with Staatsoper Hannover. She also returned to Carnegie Hall as Magna Peccatrix for American Symphony Orchestra’s 50th birthday celebration performance of Mahler’s 8th Symphony. The 2011-2012 season included Ms. Davis’ role debut as Mimi LA BOHÈME with Opera Santa Barbara as well as performances as Ilia IDOMENEO and Violetta LA TRAVIATA with Opera San Jose and a role debut in the title role of THE BALLAD OF BABY DOE with Opera Idaho.
