Praised for her ‘intensely focused and physical acting’ and ‘majestic voice’, British soprano Holly Brown is quickly garnering international prestige for her artistry and versatility on the operatic stage and the concert platform. Starting in the 2024/25 season Holly joined the Opera Studio of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Spain, where her roles include Nella GIANNI SCHICCHI, Ines IL TROVATORE and the covers of Blanche de la Force DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES and the title-role MANON.
As a member of Garsington Opera’s 2024 Alvarez Young Artists’ Programme, Holly covered the role of Giulietta UN GIORNO DI REGNO and sang the role of Thalie PLATEE, for which she received the Leonard Ingrams Award and about which the Telegraph wrote “Among the solo roles, Holly Brown as the scheming Muse of Comedy stands out for the delicate way she catches Rameau’s idiom.”
Other engagements include Clorinda LA CENERENTOLA for British Youth Opera, the Queen of Shemakha THE GOLDEN COCKEREL and Donna Anna DON GIOVANNI with the Oxford Alternative Orchestra, Carolina IL MATRIMONIO SEGRETO for Hampstead Garden Opera, Donna Anna DON GIOVANNI with the Cumbria Opera Group and the title-role MARIA EGIZIACA and La Fata Verde LA BELLA DORMENTE NEL BOSCO at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
On the concert platform Holly has sung the soprano solos in the Mozart Missa Brevis K. 49 and Missa Brevis K. 220 and Haydn Salve Regina with MidAmerica Productions at St. Paul’s, Knightsbridge, Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the Glasgow Orchestral Society, Bach Coffee Cantata at the St Lawrence Jewry Festival, Handel Messiah with the Beccles Choral Society and Mahler Second Symphony and Beethoven Christus am Olberge with London Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery Series. Holly is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she undertook a Master of Music (MMus) and a Master of Performance (MPerf).
