Matthieu Esnult

Matthieu Esnult is a young and vibrant French pianist who has performed in over 50 countries on five continents. Among his latest concerts wasa performance of Heiner Goebbels’s Surrogate Cities at the Royal Festival Hall (broadcast on BBC3) for its UK première and the opening of the Southbank Olympiad, and an evening of the music of Steve Reich music at the Royal Festival Hall with the Colin Currie Percussion Festival.

Matthieu Esnult has given solo recitals in the major concert halls of China such as Shanghai Daning Theatre, Dezhou Grand Theatre, Harbin Concert Hall, Baotou Grand Theatre, Zhuhai HUAFA Grand Theatre, Changzhou Phoenix Valley Theatre and the Anhui Grand Theatre.  Alongside his solo piano career, Matthieu is in demand as an accompanist and chamber musician. He has worked on numerous productions at Opera Bastille and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and his chamber music work has seen him perform several times at London’s Wigmore Hall.

Mr. Esnult has won many national and international prizes and he has been invited to give piano masterclasses in France, UK, Tunisia, Scotland, America, China and Mongolia. He has been featured in broadcasts and interviews on Television and radio networks including BBC Radio 3, France Culture, on French national television France 3, Radio Tunisie and the Chinese National Television and Radio.

After studying at the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot in Paris, he moved to London to continue his studies with Mikhail Kazakevich, obtaining a Master in piano in 2013 with Distinction at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and the Artist Diploma with Distinction in 2015. He also studied French repertoire with Bernard d’Ascoli and Pascal Rogé.  Passionate about arts and humanities, Matthieu also holds Masters’s degrees in Music in Literature and Philosophy from the Sorbonne University. Upcoming highlights include tours in China and India and recitals at the Carnegie Hall.
