Tracy Cox

Tracy-Cox-SopranoA Dallas native, Tracy Cox has been hailed by the Washington Post as an “impressive” soprano, LA Weekly called her a “force of nature”, and Arts in LA described her voice as, “opulent, dramatic, and expressive, with a golden sheen that is nothing short of breathtaking”.

An alumna of Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program, she made her professional debut with the company in the role of Marcellina LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, under the baton of Plácido Domingo. While in residence she also sang the roles of Female Chorus THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA, Pisana I DUE FOSCARI, and Second Lady in Krenek’s DAS GEHEIME KÖNIGREICH. In 2015 she sang the title role of ARIADNE AUF NAXOS to much acclaim with Pacific Opera Project. She was seen in solo recital in Arlington, Virginia with Kim Witman, as part of the Ravinia-Steans Institute in Chicago, and as a featured performer at the Barachois Music Festival in New Brunswick, Canada. The last three years have seen her debuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Pasadena Symphony as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, and the Cincinnati Symphony as the Soprano II soloist in Mahler’s 8th “Symphony of A Thousand”, as well as the title role in Debussy’s LA DAMOISELLE ÉLUE. She sang the role of Alice Ford FALSTAFF with Wolf Trap Opera in 2013, followed by “Sa Femme” in Milhaud’s LE PAUVRE MATELOT, and the title role AIDA with Opera San Louis Obispo. In June 2012, she made her International concert debut at the Vishnevskaya Opera Center in Moscow, and has since performed throughout Hungary with both the Philharmonic Orchestra of Györ as well as Budapest’s famed MÁV Symphony Orchestra. In the 2016/17 season Tracy will cover the Foreign Princess RUSALKA and Marianne Letzmarin DER ROSENKAVALIER for the Metropolitan Opera. In the 17/18 season Tracy will cover Meni in Thomas Adès THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL for the Metropolitan Opera.
