The 2016-17 season finds Ms. Martin in both opera, concert and recital repertoire around the United States and Europe. Opera performances include Alice Ford FALSTAFF with Opera on the James and the world premiere of Garrett Fisher’s THE PASSION TRILOGY in Los Angeles. Ms. Martin will also be performing Britten’s Les Illuminations with the Sinfonietta Paris and the role of Joan of Arc in Einhorn’s Voices of Light with the Susquehanna Valley Chorale. Recital appearances at Virginia Tech University and with the Civic Morning Musical Recital Series round out the season. In 2015-16, Ms. Martin developed and performed the world premiere of the role of Martha Jefferson MONTICELLO WAKES by Garrett Fisher in Los Angeles. She also performed recitals for St George’s Cathedral Recital Series in Kingston, Augustana College, the Fine Tuned Arts Society in Boulder, Colorado, and for The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto.
Ms. Martin made her début at Carnegie Hall in Handel’s Messiah with the New England Symphonic Ensemble and has been a featured soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Greely Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Rutter’s Requiem with Connecticut Master Chorale, Bach’s Mass in b minor with Syracuse Symphony, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with Anchorage Festival of Music and Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus with Connecticut Master Chorale. Ms. Martin also enjoys performing pops concerts and has sung Dave Grusin’s Pavane Op. 50, at the Conference for World Affairs with the composer on piano.
Ms. Martin received her training at Boston University, the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and the University of Colorado at Boulder along with participation in the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program, the Chautauqua Opera Young Artist Program, the Virginia Opera Emerging Artist Program, and as a Phyllis Curtin Seminarian at the Tanglewood Music Center. Emily has appeared on Welsh National Television with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yves Abel and has been won numerous awards from such competitions as Opera Index and the Metropolitan Regional Auditions.
