Nicole Piccolomini

The  ‘’alluringly dusky-voiced mezzo soprano” Nicole Piccolomini is in demand throughout the US and Europe in a wide range of repertoire ranging from Tango to Wagner.  Recent engagements include Erste Norn GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG at Staatstheater Stuttgart, her first Klytämnestra ELEKTRA with Theater Bonn, Erda SIEGFRIED with North Carolina Opera, Schwertleite Die Walküre with the Dallas Symphony, Dritte Dame DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at Deutsche Oper Berlin,  the title-role of Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires with Theater Bonn  and Oper Halle, Maddalena RIGOLETTO at Detroit Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin, La Badessa SUOR ANGELICA at Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Page SALOME at the Daegu Opera (South Korea), Erda DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN at Oper Leipzig, Gouvernante & cover Countess PIKOVAYA DAMA at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Erste Norn Götterdämmerung for Staatstheater Stuttgart.

Other notable engagements include Mistress Quickly Falstaff with Shanghai Opera, Erste Norn Götterdämmerung at the Dutch National Opera, Solokha CHEREVICHKI at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Maddalena RIGOLETTO for Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Caramoor International Music Festival, Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Opera Delaware, the title role of Roussel’s PADMÂVATÎ at the Spoleto Festival (Italy), Azucena Il trovatore at the Teatro Verdi di Busseto, Ulrica Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Communale di Modena, and Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, Musetta in Leoncavallo’s La bohème with Opera de Oviedo, Grimgerde Die Walküre with the Teatro alla Scala, Staatsoper Berlin, and the the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the title role in Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires with Gotham Chamber Opera in New York and Flosshilde, Grimgerde and Erste Norn DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN and Lola Cavalleria rusticana with the Opéra National de Paris.

At Deutsche Oper Berlin Nicole’s roles have included Fenena Nabucco, Maddalena Rigoletto, Erste Norn and Flosshilde Götterdämmerung, Federica Luisa Miller, Flosshilde Das Rheingold, Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte, Erste Magd Elektra, Schwertleite Die Walküre, Dryade Ariadne auf Naxos, Contessa di Coigny Andrea Chenier and Rosalia Tiefland.

On the concert platform Nicole’s engagements have included de Falla El Amor Brujo with the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana, Wagner  Wesendonk Lieder with the Venice Chamber Orchestra, a gala concert with Italia Arte Fest and the Czech Virtuosi orchestra at the Rudolfinum in Prague, Handel Messiah with the Bermuda Philharmonic, Verdi Messa da Requiem at the Umbria Music Festival and Leonid Desyatnikov’s Russian Seasons with the New York City Ballet.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Nicole was a grant recipient from the William Matheus Sullivan Foundation and has also previously received the Curt Engelhorn Scholarship from the American Berlin Opera Foundation. She was was a resident artist at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, holds a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and participated in the young artist programs of both the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Caramoor Music Festival.
