In August 2024, German mezzo soprano Marlene Lichtenberg made her Glyndebourne Festival debut as Brangäne TRISTAN UND ISOLDE at Glyndebourne Festival, going on to open the Theater Lübeck 2024/25 season as Lisa in Weinberg THE PASSENGER. This was followed by Brangäne TRISTAN UND ISOLDE in a new production by Stephen Lawless, conducted by GMD Stefan Vladar who had previously conducted her as the Foreign Princess RUSALKA.
Other important engagements include Brangäne TRISTAN UND ISOLDE at Oper Halle in a production by Jochen Biganzoli, the title-role CARMEN at the Latvian National Opera and Ulrica UN BALLO IN MASCHERA at the National Opera Sofia, Jezibaba RUSALKA at Theater Bremen, Foreign Princess RUSALKA at Landestheater Coburg and Venus TANNHÄUSER (Paris version) under Maestro Gustav Kuhn at the Tiroler Festpielen Erl.
Ms Lichtenberg’s roles at Staatstheater Braunschweig included Waltraute, Erda, Erste Norn and Flosshilde DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN and the role of the Großmutter in Isabel Ostermann’s production of Sydney Corbett’s modern opera DAS GROSSE HEFT.
At the Staatstheater Cottbus Ms Lichtenberg’s roles included Amneris AIDA (which she also performed at Theater Ulm), Eboli DON CARLOS, Heloise BARBE BLEUE, Leonora LA FAVORITE and Erda, Fricka, Waltraute, Erste Norn and Flosshilde DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN.
Ms Lichtenberg’s concert appearances include Maher Symphony No. 2 at the Klosterkirche Erlenbad, Verdi Requiem at the Munich Herkulessaal, Matthäuskirche Munich and Stadtpfarrkirche St. Peter, Mendelssohn Elijah at St. Moritz Coburg, Mozart Requiem at the Palais des Fêtes, Strasbourg, Martin Golgotha at the Christuskirche Bremerhaven and Pauluskirche Magdeburg and Maria Aegyptiaca Mahler Symphony No. 8 at the Munich Gasteig.
