American contralto Alison Bolshoi recently made her role debut in the title-role CARMEN with Boheme Opera, NJ to stellar reviews. Other recent engagements include Giovanna RIGOLETTO with Dallas Opera, Amneris AIDA, the Hexe HANSEL UND GRETEL with Boheme Opera and concerts with MidAmerica Productions and the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall. Upcoming engagements include Azucena IL TROVATORE with Boheme Opera, NJ.

Other notable engagements include the Foreign Princess RUSALKA at the South Bohemian Opera Festival, Czech Republic, creating the role of Debbie Phillips in Peter Stopschinski BUM PHILLIPS: ALL AMERICAN OPERA at New York’s La Mama Theatre, later revived in Houston, and while still singing soprano repertoire Senta (cover) DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER at San Francisco Opera and the Mother AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS with Il Piccolo Teatro dell’Opera, New York.

On the concert platform Ms Bolshoi has appeared at La Gran Teatro del Liceu in concerts of Wagner, Strauss and Schillings, Verdi Requiem and Berlioz La mort de Cléopâtre with the NY Symphonic Arts Ensemble, a Gala Concert with the National Symphony at the Český Krumlov, Czech Republic and concerts with the Huntsville Symphony, Alabama, Accademia Pianistica at the Bach to Bartok Festival, One World Symphony, New Jersey and the New Jersey State Opera.

Ms. Bolshoi ia a winner of the Liederkranz International Competition (Wagner Section), The Gerda Lissner Foundation Award and the Altamura-Caruso Foundation Award. She has worked at the Wagner Festival Orchestra Program run by Patricia Sage & Barbara Conrad studying the roles of Wagner and been part of Masterclasses with the Wagner Society of New York. Ms Bolshoi has been recognized through continued awards and sponsorship by The American Wagner Association of Illinois, The Wagner Society of New York and the Evelyn Lear & Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program of Washington, D.C. Ms. Bolshoi studies with Andrea Del Giudice and is coached by Roger Malouf of the Metropolitan Opera and William Hobbs of The Peabody Institute. Previous teachers include Barbara Conrad, Ruth Falcon, Dodi Protero, Bill Schumann and Diana Soviero.
