American baritone Daniel Sutin’s recent engagements include the role of Scarpia TOSCA with the Northern Lights Music Festival and Boston Lyric Opera, Don Fernando FIDELIO with Polish National Opera, the title role RIGOLETTO with Opera North (USA), Germont LA TRAVIATA with Opera Las Vegas and Arizona Opera, and Jokanaan SALOME with the Detroit Symphony. At the Metropolitan Opera his roles have included The Journalist LULU and the title-role WOZZECK, jumping in for an indisposed Thomas Hampson.
Mr. Sutin’s European credits include performances at the opera houses of Zurich, Basel, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Darmstadt and Krefeld/Mönchengladbach,. His repertoire includes the title role EUGENE ONEGIN, Figaro IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Harlekin ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, and Sid ALBERT HERRING. As a concert artist, Mr. Sutin has performed as soloist in Carmina Burana and in Open Air Concerts opposite José Carreras.
Other notable engagements include performances with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, L’Opera de Montreal, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Boston Lyric Opera and the Spoleto, Savonlinna Opera and Lincoln Center Festivals. With Boheme Opera NJ, Mr. Sutin has sung the roles of Scarpia TOSCA Conte di Luna IL TROVATORE, Alfio CAVALLERIA, Enrico LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, Valentin FAUST, Escamillo CARMEN, Alfio CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, Tonio PAGLIACCI and Sharpless MADAMA BUTTERFLY.
