Australian mezzo-soprano Lauren Easton is currently establishing an exciting young career firmly centered in the UK. A highlight of her career has been her ongoing relationship with the Glyndebourne Festival, which began in 2011 when she made her Festival debut as Magdalena in Sir David McVicar’s new production of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG. Further roles with the Festival and its Touring Opera include Amarella THE YELLOW SOFA (Julian Phillips), Sandman HANSEL AND GRETEL, Bat / Chair L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES, Dryade ARIADNE AUF NAXOS (Katharina Thoma new production), Flora LA TRAVIATA (Tom Cairns new production), and Lucretia RAPE OF LUCRETIA. Other recent roles include Dalila SAMSON ET DALILA for Bury Port Opera, Leerbuber DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG at Glyndebourne and Siegrune DIE WALKURE at Grange Park Opera. Upcoming roles include Sprite CENDRILLON at Glyndebourne.
In her native Australia, Ms. Easton’s performance activity included appearances with the Australian Pops Orchestra and The Song Company, Australia’s premier six-voice acappella ensemble. A formidable prizewinner and scholarship recipient, she was able to continue her studies at the prestigious Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, under the guidance of renowned Welsh tenor Dennis O’Neill.
During her period of study in Cardiff, Ms. Easton was a semi-finalist for the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of London’s Royal Opera House Covent Garden and was the mezzo-soprano soloist for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphonyat the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China.
