Bass-Baritone Paul Corona made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2010 in Debussy’s PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDEand Strauss’s CAPRICCIO and was the Grand Prize Winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions a few years prior. Mr. Corona is now on the Roster of the Metropolitan Opera, taking part in numerous productions each season. Roles in the 2015/16 season will include Count Ceprano RIGOLETTO, Antonio LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Servant in a new production of Berg’s LULU.

Mr. Corona completed his residency with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center and during his time there he performed many roles with the Lyric, including Jake Wallace LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST, Doctor Grenvil LA TRAVIATA, Pistola FALSTAFF, the Bonze MADAMA BUTTERFLY and Sciarrone TOSCA. Recent guest performances include a role debut as Bartolo LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Kentucky Opera and his Munich Philharmonic debut as Colline in concert performances of LA BOHÈME. He has also worked with the Glyndebourne Festival Opera covering Don Inigo Gomez L’HEURE ESPAGNOLE and Armchair/Tree L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGES.
With the Chicago Opera Theater Mr. Corona has also performed such roles as Osmin THE ABDUCTION FROM THE SERAGLIO and Somarone BÉATRICE ET BÉNÉDICT. During the 2011-2012 season he returned to this company to perform the role of Barabashkin in Shostakovich’s MOSCOWCHERYOMUSHKI. Mr. Corona has received awards from the Sullivan Foundation, Opera Index, Monastero Bel Canto Competition, Union League Civic and Arts Foundation, American Opera Society, Gerda Lissner Foundation and the Lotte Lenya Competition for Singers.
