Mexican soprano Alejandra Sandoval is building an international career, primarily in the leading roles of the Classical and Bel Canto repertoire in venues from Guanajuato to Beijing. Recent engagements include Gulnara IL CORSARO for the Opera Festival of Chicago, Frasquita CARMEN for Atlanta Opera, Norina DON PASQUALE at the Camerata de Coahuila, Violetta LA TRAVIATA with the Orquesta Sinaloa de las Artes and the Teatro Del Bicentenario in Leon, Mimi LA BOHEME with the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Donna Anna DON GIOVANNI with the Symphony Orchestra Ciudad Juarez, the title role in Mario Lavista’s AURA in Mexico City and Donna Elvira DON GIOVANNI and Madame Cortese IL VIAGGIO A REIMS with the Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
Recent concert engagements include Rossini Petite messe solennelle in New York, Mahler Fourth Symphony with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, Verdi Requiem with the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, Orff Carmina Burana at the International Festival Cervantino in Guanajuato. Ms. Sandoval toured Belorussia´s major cities on a recital series with the Russian pianist Alexandr Pashkov and has also toured China´s major cities including Beijing, Guangzou and Macao as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the State Mexico under conductor Enrique Batiz, where she sang Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras No.5.
Ms Sandoval completed her Bachelor of Music in Voice at the School of Music of the University of Guanajuato She has studied and attended master classes with renowned singers and national and international opera teachers, such as Hugo Barreiro, Dunja Vejzovic, Francisco Araiza, Isir Almaguer, Laurel Miller, Ramón Calzadilla, Graciela Araya, Barba Lorey, Kamal Khan, Eugenia Sutti, Edith Contreras, Conchita Julián, Stefano Lovato, Andrés Sarré, Abbie Furmansky, Silvano Zabeo and Isir Almaguer.
She was the winner of the National Singing Contest ‘Carlo Morelli’, held in Mexico City at the Palace of Fine Arts, Mexico´s most prestigious singing competition, won the third prize in the National Singing Contest Opera de San Miguel and was a semi-finalist and finalist in several other major European competitions.
