A graduate and Associate of the RAM and winner of the Mastersingers’ Wagner Singers Competition 2003, Elaine has specialised in recent years in the operas of Wagner and Strauss. Her Wagner performances include Brünnhilde DIE WALKÜRE, SIEGFRIED and GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG for Theater Chemnitz, Brünnhilde DIE WALKÜRE and GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG for the London Mastersingers and the Edinburgh Opera Players, Isolde TRISTAN UND ISOLDE for Angers Nantes Opéra, Opéra Dijon, Edinburgh Opera Players and Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa, Gutrune GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG and Brünnhilde SIEGFRIED for Scottish Opera, Sieglinde DIE WALKÜRE for Scottish Opera, English National Opera and Canadian Opera Company (cover), Ortlinde DIE WALKÜRE for Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Salzburg Festival, Hallé Orchestra, Mastersingers, BBC Proms, London Philharmonia, Helmwige DIE WALKÜRE for Deutsche Oper Berlin and Netherlands Opera, Gerhilde DIE WALKÜRE Canadian Opera Company, Third Norn GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG for Staatstheater Stuttgart, Siegrune and Second Norn for State Opera of South Australia, Freia DAS RHEINGOLD for Chemnitz and Adriano RIENZI and Kundry PARSIFAL for Palace Opera.
Other recent roles include Marianne Leitmetzerin DER ROSENKAVALIER at Covent Garden, Kostelnicka (cover) JENUFA with the English National Opera and the Aufseherin and Elektra (cover) ELEKTRA for Covent Garden and the Netherlands Opera. Last season Elaine sang Ortrud LOHENGRIN in concert for L’opéra de Limoges and the Marschallin DER ROSENKAVALIER for the first time in concert. In autumn 2015 she made her role-debut in the title-role ELEKTRA for Theater Magdeburg.
In addition to her Wagner and Strauss repertoire, Elaine has enjoyed success as Amelia UN BALLO IN MASCHERA for Surrey Opera, Abigaille NABUCCO for the Macedonian Opera, Elettra IDOMENEO in Neumünster, Gertrud (cover) in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL for Glyndebourne and Female Chorus THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA.
In concert Elaine performed songs from Mahler’s Das Knaben Wunderhorn with the Cyprus Sinfonia at St John’s, Smith Square and recently returned to sing Britten’s Les Illuminations. At St John’s Elaine also sang Isolde in Act II of TRISTAN UND ISOLDE under Michael Thorne. She was invited to sing the Act II TRISTAN UND ISOLDE duet and the Liebestod in concert with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra under Federico Cortese and Kundry PARSIFAL in concert under Nicholas Braithwaite.
Her other concert repertoire includes Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder,Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Verdi Requiem, Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah; Mozart Requiem, Britten On this Island and Les Illuminations, De Koven The Canterbury Pilgrims, Orff Carmina Burana, Shostakovitch Symphony 14, Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony, Wagner Wesendonck Lieder; Walton Façade and Weber Mass in G ‘Jubelmesse’.
