Frazer Scott

Scottish bass Frazer Scott is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s prestigious Opera studio, where he also completed his postgraduate studies. As an undergraduate, Frazer was awarded a First Class Hons. BMus Degree from the (now Royal) Birmingham Conservatoire.

In 2022, Frazer performed the role of Caronte L’ORFEO at Garsington Opera, also undetudying the role of Harry DALIA during the same season. He was subsequently awarded the Garsington Opera Helen Clarke Memorial Award.

“An accomplished farceur” (The Independent), Frazer’s other notable operatic credits include Snug in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and Antonio LE NOZZE DI FIGARO for Garsington Opera, Lackai ARIADNE AUF NAXOS for Opera North and Geronimo in THE SECRET MARRIAGE for British Youth Opera.  Frazer will make his BBC Proms debut in September 2024 as Snug in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Concert engagements include performances at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Cheltenham Festival, and the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford. Recently, Fr\er performed as soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the George Walker Mass at the Barbican Hall, London and sang the bass solos in English National Ballet’s production of Stravinsky Les Noces at Sadlers Wells.

At the Wigmore Hall final of the 2013 Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, Frazer was awarded the Audience Prize and 1st Runner-Up. He was also a finalist in the Reginald Vincent Lieder Prize in 2008.

Frazer appears as a soloist on the Orchestra of St John’s recording of Mozart Requiem. His voice has been featured in Kettle Chips advertisements across the USA, and he previously appeared in a number of advertisements for BBC Radio. He made his BBC Radio 3 debut alongside Richard Goulding, Jemma Redgrave, and Stephanie Cole, appearing as ‘Wilf’ in Iain Burnside’s radio-play version of A Soldier and a Maker.
