Colaratura soprano Hannah Sawle studied at Chethams School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has won awards for her English and Contemporary Song, recorded with the BBC Philharmonic and sung live on BBC World Service, Radio 3 and Radio 4.
Recent roles include Witness 1, Woman 1 and Singer 1 in the French and German premiers of LESSONS IN LOVE AND VIOLENCE by George Benjamin for Hamburg Staatsoper and Opera de Lyon. She will be reprising these roles in 2023 with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in Germany conducted by the composer.
She is a regular cover at the Royal Opera House where covered roles include Poppea AGRIPPINA, Ismene MITRIDATE, RE DI PONTO and the soprano roles in Britten’s DEATH IN VENICE. She is currently covering Morgana at the Royal Opera House in their production of ALCINA.
Alongside regularly performing Queen of the Night, her other roles include the title role LAKME, Elettra IDOMENEO, Adina L’ELISIR D’AMORE, Diana ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD, Micaela and Frasquita CARMEN, Zerlina DON GIOVANNI, Mademoiselle Silberklang DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR, and Nedda PAGLIACCI.
