Coloratura soprano Hannah Sawle studied at Chetham’s School of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and on English National Opera’s Opera Works Course. She is currently studying with Janice Chapman. Whilst at the GSMD she won awards for her English and Contemporary Song and she has been guest soloist on BBC World Service, Radio 3 and Radio 4. Solo recordings include Giles Swayne’s Four Passiontide Motets with the NYCGB and Respighi’s La Pentola Magica with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Upcoming engagements include Witness 1/Singer 1/Woman 1 in George Benjamin’s LESSONS IN LOVE AND VIOLENCE, directed by Katie Mitchell at the Teatro Real, Madrid, l’Opéra de Lyon and Staatsoper Hamburg.

Recent engagements include include the title-role in Léo Delibes’ LAKME with Swansee City Opera, the cover role of Ismene MITRIDATE, RE DI PONTO with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Micaela CARMEN for English Pocket Opera, the Queen of the Night DIE ZAUBERFLOETE for a joint production by Iford Arts and Charles Court Opera and Strauss’ Brentano Lieder and Mahler’s 4th Symphony with Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra at St George’s Bristol.
