Greek bass-baritone Timos Sirlantzis was born in Thessaloniki and in addition to vocal studies with Charikleia Glavopulu at the Conservatorium of Music and Drama in Athens he also studied violin and piano. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Music he was accepted into the Masters Opera Program at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. He graduated in 2018 under the tutelage of Teru Yoshihara, a recipient of the Onassis Cultural Center’s scholarship.
While still a student his operatic roles included Calchas LA BELLE HELÉNE, the Officer in Philip Glass IN THE PENAL COLONY at the Onassis Cultural Center with Camerata Armonia-Atenea, the Sprecher DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at the Greek National Opera and Don Alfonso COSI FAN TUTTE at the Daegu Opera house in South Korea. Other recent engagements include Papageno DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at the Greek National Opera, Colline LA BOHÈME at the Stadthalle Balingen as well as Sparafucile RIGOLETTO, Frank Maurrant STREET SCENE and Mamma AGATA VIVA LA MAMMA at the Wilhelma Theater, Stuttgart. In 2021 he sang the title role CAPODISTRIAS: MONODRAMA OF A SECRET LIFE, a one-man opera written for him by Calliope Tsoupaki, at the Greek National Opera.
Timos was a semi-finalist at the 2022 Belvedere Singing Competition and the 2020 Ottavio Ziino Competition and was a finalist at the 2022 Vincero Opera Competition. He was also named as one of the ‘Twenty Young Future Opera Stars’ by the British magazine Opera Now in March of 2022.
Since 2018 Timos has been an ensemble member of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Munich where his roles have included Leporello, Masetto and the title-role DON GIOVANNI, Lindorf/Coppelius/Dr. Miracle/Dapertutto LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN, Sparafucile and Monterone RIGOLETTO, Don Basilio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Don Alfonso COSI FAN TUTTE, Sarastro DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Angelotti TOSCA, the Cold Genius KING ARTHUR and Nourabad LES PECHEURS DE PERLES. Upcoming engagements in Munich include Wurm LUISA MILLER, Figaro LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Rodolfo LA SONNAMBULA.
